The Music Division of the VCSU Community School of the Arts offers lessons with VCSU Music Department and qualified community faculty. Students who are interested in studying with faculty through the CSA are encouraged to complete an application form and submit the form to the VCSU Music Department office.
Note: Submission of an application does not guarantee lessons. We will attempt to honor requests for instructors, but spots with VCSU Music Department faculty are limited. Once rosters are full, students may be placed on a waitlist until an opening occurs, or may be assigned to a different instructor.
Lessons are given in Foss Hall, the music building of Valley City State University. Students meet their instructors in the lobby for their first lessons.
Teacher assignments are arranged by the Director of the Community School. Specific lesson times are arranged between teachers and students before the first lesson.
Performance classes are open to all music students within the Community School and help the students learn to be comfortable and professional when performing. Recitals are held every December and May, and other festivals and performance opportunities also exist throughout the year.
The Valley Voices Women's Choir offers women the opportunity to perform in a unique vocal ensemble. There is no audition process and women from Valley City and the surrounding communities are welcome to join the ensemble.
